As upperclassmen saw the first of the incoming freshman class at the M-Climb, it was impossible not to notice the hordes of girls, a rare sight around the Mines campus. Whispers spread up and down the lines of water-balloon torturers of a freshman class composed of 30% girls. Although accurate on a surface level, this statistic is not entirely true. "It was such a beautiful sight," gushed Ryan Lisby, a junior Environmental Engineer. "I've never seen so many girls in real life! I thought there were only that many girls on TV!"

"And that's the flaw of the Bush doctrine," then-Sen. Barack Obama explained to ABC News anchor Charles Gibson in January. "It wasn't that he went after those who attacked America. It was that he went after those who didn't."

Anyone else find it ironic that the same people who said Bush deserved respect simply because he was the president now support crude Obama jokes?
Is it bad that I get more pleasure from my boyfriend's motorcylce than I do him?

On the opinion page of the Oredigger of the 10th of november LB Williams wrote a furious article against the use of marijuana at Mines. His main point involves the fact that a Mines student will probably get a responsible job in the future and the bad effects of marijuana do not fit in that profile.

I don't know what to make of the Larry Penley situation -- I mean, other than my gut reaction to the mid-semester kiss-off, the month-long vacation and the $389,000 in severance pay.
Just postulating, but for a guy who was brought in to help bolster the university's earnings, strutting out of here at the drop of a hat with his pocketbook lined doesn't strike me as leading by example.

The aftermath of the election saw Sen. John McCain suffer an enormous defeat as seen in fighting in the Republican Party on the issue of whether the party is too conservative, or not conservative enough. Unfortunately, it looks as if the faction that believes the GOP is not conservative enough will win, which will almost certainly push the GOP to becoming more of a regional party and continue to suffer defeat at the national stage.
